Competent Swim Program

The Kingswim Program has been specially designed to teach kids all the skills they will ever need to know to be safe and have fun in and around the water.

The Kingswim program is divided into 4 key learning levels:

  • Foundation – for babies from 12 weeks to 3 years old
  • Independent – for kids who are ready to learn without Mum or Dad in the water
  • Competent – for kids who have got the basics covered and are ready to start refining their skills
  • Graduate – for kids who are becoming swimming experts

We all want the best for our kids.  Research has shown that children who learn to swim at a young age reach many developmental milestones earlier than the norm.  This includes not just swimming capability, but literacy, numeracy, social and emotional measures as well.  Learning to swim is the best possible start for parents who want to give their children the greatest opportunity to thrive in life.

The Competent Program is designed to fast track progression and develop skills based on the latest swimming techniques.  These levels are where all the benefits of the basic skills learned in the Foundation and Independent Programs come to life.

Some of the technical elements of the Competent program can be quite tricky to master, but practice and commitment at this stage is what sets Kingswim students apart.  Many parents tell us that at the school swim sports or on the family holiday they could easily spot the kids who learn with Kingswim by their safety, skills and confidence in and around the water.

We know it’s all the little things that make the difference, at Kingswim.

Each stage of the Kingswim program from Independent to Graduate is divided into a series of stages known as K Levels.  These K Levels have been specially developed to ensure children learn all the skills they will ever need to be confident and safe in and around the water.

The Competent K Levels are all about refining the skills needed to move through the water with confidence and be safe in more challenging situations.

Common Questions

Who is the best teacher for my child?  answer-icon

At Kingswim, all teachers teach to the same lesson plan. This means that your child will be taught consistently, no matter which teacher they have. We have small swimmer to teacher ratios, which means each child will be given close attention and guidance in any given class.

How often will I get feedback on my child’s progress?answer-icon

We have supervisors for each class, who observe each child closely and provide regular feedback to parents. Changing levels is not limited to term breaks, which allows children to progress to the next level whenever they are ready.

How do you guarantee my child will keep learning?answer-icon

Sometimes a child needs a little extra help – and that’s perfectly ok! If your child needs some extra help to reach the next level, we offer a learning guarantee to ensure that their progress stays on track.

Do you have any school holiday programs?answer-icon

We sure do! Our Fast Track holiday program is an intensive burst of daily lessons held in the second week of the school holidays, usually for four days. If you can’t come to all four days, no worries – just choose the days that suit you!  It’s a fun and healthy activity, and a great way to get some extra practice.

What Others are Saying

Both my daughters have learned to swim here and people often comment at their capability in the water. The pool and facilities are always great and the staff are helpful, accommodating and highly skilled. It’s been worth every cent.

Sally

Low instructor/child ratio, good training, purpose-built facility. Introductory lesson is free by the way – so go try it out for yourself without obligation (we did, and 3 years later we are still there).

Gerry

My eldest learnt to swim here, we changed from another swim school and were amazed with the results in such a short time. My middle child is currently swimming here and is doing very well.

Katherine

The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome – not just the kids but the parents too!
