We are devastated by the bushfires blazing around the country.
The loss of life, wildlife, property and nature is difficult to comprehend, let alone accept.
It has been, and will continue to be, a really trying time for everyone as we continue to be faced with these tragic circumstances for the foreseeable future.
The safety of our communities is the most important thing. Many of our staff and some centres have been impacted by the bushfires and we are doing everything we can to support them during this time.
We’d like to thank the firefighters across the country who are bravely fighting to control the blazes. Some of these individuals are our own staff and our thoughts are with them during this physically and emotionally exhausting time.
Kingswim is a business owned by the not for profit organisation, YMCA Victoria. The Y is not an emergency relief organisation, but will play an important role in the recovery phase, like the role they played after Black Saturday. Rebuilding communities and supporting families is what they do best.
How we are helping now:
- YMCA Phillip Island Coastal Discovery Camp is offering emergency accommodation for those affected.
- We are supporting our staff who are volunteer firefighters by paying them their usual salary as they take this time off work.
- We are ensuring we put the safety and wellbeing of our customers first by closing pools if needed, and providing updates via social media regarding air quality in the area due to the smoke haze.
